Camden Man Sought in Murder of Audubon Man

Brandon Mosby is accused of shooting and killing John Carey Tuesday night.

An Audubon man was shot and killed at a boarding home where he was staying Tuesday night, and police are searching for the perpetrator.

John Carey, 48, was shot at a home on the 500 block of the White Horse Pike about 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk and Audubon Police Chief Thomas Tassi said Wednesday afternoon.

He died at the scene.

Brandon Mosby, 23, of Camden was charged with murder. He is still at-large.

Mosby was allegedly involved in a domestic dispute with a woman living at the home, which is a single-family home that was converted into a boarding house. Carey was a renter at the house.

The dispute began in the woman’s room, but spilled out into a common living area, where Carey attempted to intervene on behalf of the woman.

Mosby allegedly subsequently shot Carey. At the same time, the woman fled the house and flagged down a random passing car. Two women were in that car, and they drove the victim to the Collingswood Diner.

The woman doesn’t know the identities of the two women who assisted her. The unidentified women are asked to contact Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Charles Farrell at (856) 225-8653 or Audubon Police Detective David Bauer at (856) 547-1171.

Anyone with information on Mosby’s whereabouts is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately.
