Driver Crashes Into Police Cruiser on Tacony-Palmyra Bridge

The crash occurred early Thursday morning, according to the Burlington County Bridge Commission.

An unidentified man was injured after he crashed into a Burlington County Bridge Commission police cruiser on the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge early Thursday, police said. 

According to the bridge commission, the driver was heading west into Pennsylvania around 12:30 a.m. when he veered into the opposing lane and crashed into a police vehicle heading east into New Jersey.

The officer was treated and released from Cooper University Hospital in Camden. The other driver's name and condition have not been made available at this time, though early reports indicated his injuries were serious. The bridge commission indicated the driver is still being evaluated at the hospital.

The accident investigation is ongoing, in consultation with the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.
