During the month of September 2012, the Cinnaminson Fire Department responded to 118 emergency incidents as follows:
68 – Medical Emergencies
20 – Fire/Carbon Monoxide Alarm Activations
10 – Other Emergency Incidents
9 – Wires/Transformer Incidents
7 – Motor Vehicle Collisions
4 – Structure Fires
The month of September was another busy month for the Cinnaminson Fire Department, Chief William Kramer said. On Sept. 18, a thunderstorm passed through the town and eight emergency incidents were handled in a five hour span.
Also, the department responded to the Delaware River for a reported overturned boat with victims in the water. Marine units from Cinnaminson, Palmyra and Riverton responded with marine units from Camden City and Philadelphia Fire Departments. An overturned vessel was located on the Philadelphia side of the river and all victims were safe on shore.
The Cinnaminson Fire Department participated in this year’s Cinnaminson Day at Wood Park. An obstacle course was set up for children to go through and get a feel for what it is like to be a firefighter. The department’s apparatus was on display and fire safety information was provided to the public.
October is Fire Prevention Month. This year's national theme is “Have 2 Ways Out” and our Fire Prevention Bureau will be utilizing a puppeteer to teach fire safety in our schools.
"You and your family should discuss two ways out of your house and a meeting place outside in case of a fire," Kramer said. "We remind everyone that fire safety should be practiced year-round."
