First Responders, Residents Connect on National Night Out

Hundreds of Cinnaminson residents came out Tuesday to meet, greet and have fun with the township's police, fire and other emergency personnel.

Cinnaminson's second annual National Night Out was again a success, with hundreds of residents turning out Tuesday to have fun and interact with local first responders.

Public Safety Director Mickey King said with the emphasis the police department has placed on community policing the last several years, he felt it was important to have an event like this in Cinnaminson.

"We want to connect (the first responders) with the residents," he said. "The amount of volunteers we have out shows that it’s a success ... I think it's going to continue to be a success."

The township moved the event, which was held in conjunction with roughly 15,000 other communities around the world, from town hall—where it was held last year—to neighborhood parks (Wood and Extension) and New Albany Elementary School to further solidify the first responders' connection with the communities they serve.
