UPDATED: Heavy Rain, Wind Expected As Cinnaminson Braces For Worst Storm Since Sandy

The timing of this storm will impact Thanksgiving holiday travel. Travel conditions will deteriorate Tuesday afternoon as strong onshore winds and rain move into the region.

UPDATE: Emergency management coordinator Dan Norman said the township is prepared should the storm get ugly.

He said public works trucks have been outfitted with plows in the event that temperatures drop and the rain turns to snow, and the township has plenty of salt and brine to take care of ice.

Norman said residents can keep informed on how the storm is impacting the township via Nixle, as well as through the Office of Emergency Management Facebook page and Twitter. You can also get updates from the township Facebook and Twitter.

A nor'easter is expected to dump heavy rainfall and bring winds to the Cinnaminson area as the community braces for possibly the worst storm since Superstorm Sandy.

The storm is not expected to be on the same level of the hurricane-like disaster that destroyed much of the Jersey Shore and South Jersey last year. But the nor'easter is expected to impact the area beginning Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Heavy rainfall is expected with rainfall amounts of two to four inches possible. Rain from this system is expected to be spread over a 12 to 18 hour period, so river flooding is not expected, but ocean flooding is possible, according to the Manchester, Gloucester and other police departments.

However, roadway and poor draining flooding is likely, and significant rises can be expected on quicker responding streams, with minor flooding still a possibility on a few on them.

There is a threat of icing (freezing rain) from this storm in the southern Poconos, mainly Tuesday afternoon/evening before warmer air fully moves in. Amounts would likely be around  a tenth of an inch or less.

Some snow is possible with this storm, especially in the higher elevations of eastern Pennsylvania and northwestern New Jersey.  Snowfall totals are expected to be under 2 inches.

Minor coastal flooding is still possible with this storm. This includes the Delaware Bay / River and the Chesapeake Bay.  The high tides to watch are the ones on Wednesday.

The timing of this storm will impact Thanksgiving holiday travel.  Travel conditions will deteriorate Tuesday afternoon as strong onshore winds and rain move into the region.  These conditions will persist into daytime Wednesday, improving later Wednesday night.
