Update: Woman Dies in Head-On Collision

A 79-year-old woman dies after the Dec. 23 accident.

Update, Dec. 28, 6:46 p.m.: One driver in the head-on collision, a 79-year-old police declined to identify, died from her injuries, according to the Burlington County Times.

Police said the driver of the vehicle that struck the elderly woman's vehicle was a 30-year-old Moorestown man, who was injured, but not seriously. 

An investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.

A head-on collision at Riverton Road and Branch Pike has injured two people and snarled evening traffic at the intersection.

The accident occurred around 4:45 p.m. Friday between a tan car and a dark SUV. Emergency crews removed one person from the car around 5:15 p.m. and the second just before 5:30 p.m. The first person extracated was removed on a stretcher with visible injuries. 

Both cars had extensive damage.

Occupants of the SUV were on the scene, but declined to comment to Cinnaminson Patch. 

Traffic is blocked on Riverton Road traveling toward Moorestown, but cars can still pass coming from Moorestown. Rubberneckers were impeding traffic, prompting police to admonish drivers.
