Local Man Pleads Not Guilty to Sexual Assault of 14-Year-Old Boy

Daniel Smith is already serving time for a federal drug case.

Daniel Smith, the Cinnaminson man who in Wood Park in December, pleaded not guilty to the assault, according to Phillyburbs.com.

Smith was after he pleaded guilty in December to a charge of conspiracy to manufacture 1,000 or more marijuana plants with intent to distribute.

Police said Smith, 39, of Lenola Road, met the juvenile through a message board online. Smith had been charged with two counts of second degree sexual assault, one count of second degree attempted sexual assault and one count of third degree endangering the welfare of a child.

According to reports, a plea offer has been extended to Smith in the sexual assault case. That would require him to plead guilty to the sexual assault charge and the other charges would be dismissed in exchange for a five-year prison sentence.

The next hearing is scheduled for Nov. 14.
