Man Bites ShopRite Employee During Attempted Robbery

A Mt. Holly man tries to rob the Cinnaminson grocery store.

Police here arrested a Mt. Holly man Monday after he tried to rob a grocery store and subsequently biting the arm of a loss prevention manager.

Javier A. Martinez-Ortiz, 32, of the 200 block of Washington Street, was observed walking through in Cinnaminson with merchandise in a cart while pocketing batteries and digital camera memory cards in his pants pocket.

When the store's loss prevention team tried to stop and detain the man, he began to fight with them, police said, and Martinez-Oliver bit the arm of the regional loss prevention manager.

Martinez-Oliver was brought to the ground by several store loss prevention associates until police arrived.

Warrants for the accused from Cinnaminson and Hainesport were discovered by . He was charged with robbery and simple assault and was remanded to Burlington County Jail in default of $50,000 full cash bail.
