Palmyra Police Blotter

The following arrest information was supplied by the Palmyra Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Nov. 11, 9:15 p.m.

Palmyra Police responded to the 3100 Block of Harbour Drive to take a stolen motor vehicle report. The victim advised police this was the third time her brother, Roberto Santiago, had taken her vehicle without her consent. As units were gathering more information for this report, the accused, Santiago, was observed parking the vehicle that was being reported stolen. Santiago, 50, was taken into custody and charged with taking the vehicle without the victim's consent. He was unable to post the required bail and was subsequently lodged in Burlington County Jail.  

Nov. 11, 8:01 p.m.

Palmyra officers were dispatched to the 3100 Block of Harbour Drive for a burglary call. Upon arrival, units were advised by the homeowner that someone had forcibly entered his residence between the hours of 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Several items were taken from the residence, including a 50-inch Panasonic LCD television, an Apple iPad and numerous pieces of jewelry. Anyone with information should call the Palmyra Police Detective Bureau at 856-829-0198.

Nov. 12, 10:06 a.m.

Palmyra Police were dispatched to Wawa on Cinnaminson Avenue for a reported shoplifting. Responding officers were advised that a white male, 5-foot-9, wearing two sweatshirts—one white and one red with gray stripes—had left the store toward the River Line rail station.  

Palmyra officers stopped the accused two blocks from Wawa where he was identified as Michael McCusker, 33, of Mullica Hill. Police said McCusker attempted to take a pint of ice cream without paying.

McCusker was taken into custody and charged with shoplifting. He also had an outstanding warrant out of Washington Township, Gloucester County. Unable to post bail, McCusker was lodged in Burlington County Jail.

Nov. 13, 8:13 a.m.

While on patrol, a Palmyra officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 North in the area of River Road for an equipment violation. As the officer made his approach to the vehicle on the passenger side, he observed the passenger had a baseball hat sitting on his lap. Inside the hat was a plastic bag of marijuana. The passenger, a juvenile, was taken out of the vehicle and arrested for the possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. The driver consented to a search of the entire vehicle by police.  

During the search, officers located a partially smoked marijuana cigarette in the center console. The driver, Ephraim Vale of Camden, was subsequently arrested for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. The juvenile was charged and released to the custody of his father. Vale was also charged and released on a summons.    

Nov. 13, 8:46 p.m.

Palmyra Police were dispatched to Wawa for a shoplifting. Responding units were given a description of the suspect—black male wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt. The suspect had been last seen by store employees walking toward the River Line train platform. Responding units were approached by the suspect who claimed that he had not stolen anything.  

After officers spoke with Wawa employees and witnesses, it was determined that the suspect had in fact concealed merchandise from the store in his pants pocket. The suspect had been startled by store employees coming out of the back and decided to take the items out of his pockets and leave them on the counter.  

The suspect, Ryan Caldwell of Westampton, had concealed two packs of Combo pretzels, two Peanut Chews, and one Butterfinger candy bar. He was arrested and charged with shoplifting. Caldwell also had three outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was unable to post any of the bail required for release and he was lodged in Burlington County Jail.  

Nov. 16, 5:37 p.m.

Palmyra officers were dispatched to investigate a burglary and theft to a residence. Upon arrival, they spoke to the house sitter as the homeowner was on vacation. The house sitter said she came to check on the house and noticed the television was missing, so she called the homeowner. Once on the phone, the house sitter discovered a Wii gaming system was also missing. The total value of loss was estimated at $2,300. Entry to the home was apparently through a window.
