Pemberton Man Charged With Killing Mother Sunday Night

Herbert Rowlette,44, was charged with a single count of murder in the death of his 71-year-old mother.

A Pemberton Township man has been charged with killing his mother at their home in the Browns Mills section of the township Sunday night, Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi and Pemberton Township Police Chief David Jantas announced.

Herbert Rowlette,44, was charged with a single count of murder on Monday. He was lodged in Burlington County Jail on $500,000 bail.

Police reported to the home around 5:40 p.m. Sunday night after receiving a call from Rowlette that a homicide had taken place.

The investigation led law enforcement officials to believe that it was Rowlette who killed his mother, identified as 71-year-old Maryanne Rowlette.

Maryanne Rowlette was found on the living room floor of the home, and no one else was home at the time of the incident.

The motive is being investigated.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

The investigation was conducted by detectives from the Pemberton Township Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
