Police: Disorderly Man Arrested in Palmyra

Palmyra Police arrested a local man for disorderly conduct and more after he was found banging on the door of a home, shouting obscenities, officials said. 

Police responded to a residence in the Harbour section of town around 10:06 p.m., Dec. 23, for a reported disorderly persons call. An intoxicated male subject was banging on the door of a residence and causing a disturbance by yelling obscenities very loudly, police said.

Upon arrival, officers learned the male was not welcome on location by the resident. Officers attempted to speak with the intoxicated male but were met with the same disorderly behavior.  

The male subject also began to take a defensive posture with one of the officers and threatened the officer verbally.

The man, Matthew Rooney, 41, of Palmyra, was immediately taken in to custody with resistance. He was charged with terroristic threats, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.  

He was unable to post the $10,000 bail and was lodged in Burlington County Jail pending court.
