Police: Man Stole Bike from Police Station After Processed on Warrant

Police said the man was found two blocks away from the police station with a stolen bike.

 

Palmyra Police said a Gloucester County man was harassing customers at Wawa this week, and after he was processed at the police station, he tried to steal a bicycle.

At 7:45 a.m., Dec. 8, Palmyra officers were dispatched to Wawa for a subject soliciting money and harassing customers. The man, Walter McCarty II, 32, of Turnersville, said he was trying to get train fare.

A check revealed that McCarty was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of West Deptford Municipal Court. McCarty was taken into custody on the warrant and taken to Palmyra Police headquarters.

McCarty was processed on the warrant and released to West Deptford with a new court date.

Police then said McCarthy took a bicycle that was left at the police station. Officers stopped McCarty two blocks away. He was taken into custody for theft.

McCarty was transported to Burlington County Jail.
