Police Report Fights, Accident During Carnival Last Week

A 16-year-old girl was hit by a car while in the crosswalk on Branch Pike

The has come and gone and, as in years past, not without incident.

But, Lt. Tim Young, with the , said as far as the carnival goes, it’s no more serious than any other year.

A 16-year-old girl was treated at Cooper University Hospital over the weekend after a car hit her as she crossed Branch Pike leaving the carnival, police said.

Young said the girl suffered minor injuries. It is unknown if she has returned home.

She was crossing at the crosswalk at Branch Pike and Forklanding Road when the car hit her. The driver of the vehicle received a summons, Young said, for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

There were also about five fights reported, Young said, with a few injuries.

Last Tuesday, the second night of the carnival, four to five people jumped two juveniles. The two juveniles were assaulted and the accused took a baseball cap, Young said.

Three days later, two Cinnaminson males were jumped by a group of males, .

Another incident involved a male jumping over a game booth in an attempt to steal stuffed animal prizes, Young said. He was asked to leave the carnival.

Finally, last Wednesday, a witness went forward to Cinnaminson police to say they saw someone getting stabbed.

“But, the guy left the carnival grounds,” Young said. “We don’t have anymore further information.”

Young said if anyone has knowledge of that incident, call the detective unit at 856-829-6667.

Cinnaminson police patrolled the carnival all week, and were joined by out-of-town officers as well.
