Riverton Police Blotter

The following arrest information was supplied by the Riverton Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction. 

July 11, 10:33 a.m.
Officers were dispatched to CVS on Broad Street around 10:33 a.m. for a report of shoplifting. Responding officers observed a subject matching the description given to them by CVS employees in the area of the River Line station. The subject, who was identified as Wayne Peters, 50, from Camden, was in possession of a stolen camera and other merchandise totaling $115. Peters was also in possession of drug paraphernalia and a hypodermic needle. Peters’ charges were placed on a summons and given a court date and eventually released. 

July 13, 4 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to the Broad Street CVS for a report of a theft. The subject allegedly stole a camera on July 11 around 4:15 p.m., according to police. The responding officer reviewed the video surveillance and identified the subject as Wayne Peters. Peters returned to the CVS later that day and stole the camera again. A $2,500 warrant was issued for Peters.

July 20
While officers were out patrolling, they observed previously mentioned Wayne Peters in the area of the train station. Peters was taken into custody and upon doing so, it was learned he shoplifted again from the CVS. He was also found in possession of a hypodermic needle. Peters was sent to Burlington County Jail.

July 22, 11:15 a.m.
Officers were dispatched to CVS on Broad Street for a report of shoplifting. A subject matching the description was stopped and found to be in possession of the stolen items. Adam Smutny, 36, of Cookstown, was charged with shoplifting. His bail was set at $1,500. He was subsequently sent to Burlington County Jail.

July 22, 4:15 p.m. 
After officers conducted a motor vehicle stop, a passenger, Michael D. Haller, 40, of Bridgeboro Street, was taken into custody and charged with hindering his own apprehension by giving officers a false name. He was wanted for outstanding warrants. Haller was subsequently transported to Burlington County Jail.
