Santa Will Tour Cinnaminson on Fire Truck Monday

Santa Claus and his helpers will make their rounds in Cinnaminson on Christmas Eve as the North Pole’s most famous citizen hands out gifts and spreads holiday cheer.

Starting around 4 p.m. Monday, three fire trucks will tour the township each with St. Nick and several members of the Cinnaminson Fire Department.

This is the 38th year Santa has been visiting families in Cinnaminson. And while other towns ask Santa to visit several days or weeks before Christmas, the fire department has kept it on Christmas Eve.

“That’s when the kids want it,” said Fire Chief William Kramer. “That’s when it’s the most exciting. And they get to see Santa before they go to bed.”

About 20 fire department members and other volunteers give up their Christmas Eve to ride along with Santa.

“It’s just a really nice thing [they] do,” Kramer said. “They are giving up their Christmas Eve to make the kids happy.”

Santa even stops at kids’ houses, whose parents sent Santa a special letter through the fire department asking him to hand deliver a gift. Kramer said more than 200 stops a year are made in Cinnaminson.

Usually, Santa starts making his way around town at 4 p.m. He’ll keep going until he’s finished, Kramer said, sometimes it’s even at 10 p.m.
