State Police: Body Washed Up Along River

A body was discovered on the banks of the Delaware River on Sunday morning.

State Police are trying to determine the identity of a decomposed body that washed up along the banks of the Delaware River. 

A man walking his dog spotted the body around 9:15 a.m. Sunday near Inman Street, said Sgt. Stephen Jones, a state police spokesman. 

Cinnaminson police responded, and called State Police to assist in the investigation.

The body is possibly that of a female, according to Jones. An autopsy is being conducted today to determine the cause of death. 

"There was some significant deterioration of the body, indicating it may have been exposed to the elements for a while," Jones said.

Troopers from the Burlington Marine Station, Crime Scene Investigation, the Missing Persons Unit and Major Crimes detectives are investigating.
