Teen Leads Police on Pursuit Through BurlCo: State Police

The chase started in Willingboro and ended in Pennsauken early Sunday, according to New Jersey State Police.

A Willingboro teenager is in custody after leading law enforcement on a pursuit that wound its way through Burlington County early Sunday morning, state police said.

The chase began at approximately 1 a.m. when Willingboro Police attempted to stop a white Ford Crown Victoria and the driver fled. The driver reportedly had a ski mask on, according to state police.

State police joined the pursuit after troopers out of the Bordentown barracks observed the vehicle heading southbound on 295. The driver—ultimately identified as 19-year-old Damon Williams, of Willingboro—ignored repeated attempts to get him to stop, state police said.

The chase continued south, passing through Cinnaminson on Route 130. Reports stated the pursuit hit speeds of roughly 100 mph, though state police could not confirm that.

Williams eventually crashed into a fence off Route 130 in Pennsauken, state police said, exited the car and continued to flee on foot.

After a brief chase, state police took Williams into custody. He was charged with eluding and lodged in Burlington County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.

An investigation is ongoing.
