UPDATE: Five Students Taken to Hospital After School Bus-Involved Accident

The police chief said the Blackwood Elementary students were hospitalized as a precaution.

UPDATE 5/17 1:56 p.m.: The five Blackwood Elementary School students hospitalized following Friday morning's school bus-involved accident at Little Gloucester and Erial roads have been released from the hospital.

"I just left the hospital, and all of the kids have been released to their parents," Gloucester Township Public Schools Superintendent Thomas Seddon said around 1:45 p.m.

Five students were taken to an area hospital as a precaution following a two-vehicle, school bus-involved accident at Little Gloucester and Erial roads late this morning, Gloucester Township Police Chief W. Harry Earle said this afternoon.

The accident occurred shortly before noon in front of Charles W. Lewis Middle School, but the five students attend Blackwood Elementary School, police Lt. Jason Gittens said.

The students were transported to Kennedy University Hospital-Washington Township for evaluation.

Earle noted the driver of the second vehicle involved in the accident, an unidentified male, was also taken to the hospital. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

The bus was able to be driven from the scene.
