Several employees of the Cinnaminson Sewerage Authority were arrested on theft and corruption charges, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office announced today.

No immediate details were available. The prosecutor's office and Cinnaminson Police will hold a joint press conference at 4 p.m. today in Mt. Holly. 

Cinnaminson’s sewerage authority is semi-autonomous body from the township government. The Township Committee appoints commissioners, but the authority then acts on its own. The authority maintains and operates Cinnaminson sewer systems and protects township waterways from pollution, according to New Jersey statute.

The department employs 21 people, according to public employee records from NJ.com, last updated in March 2011. That number includes the five commissioners who do not work full-time for the authority.
