Burlington County Republicans Consider Supporting Tom MacArthur For Congress

MacArthur is seeking the seat currently held by Jon Runyan, who will retire this year.

The Burlington County Republican Party’s Screening Committee and the county’s municipal chairs have endorsed Tom MacArthur as he seeks the party’s nomination in the Third Congressional District race, the Courier Post reports.

The nomination now goes before the Republican Party’s full county committee, according to the report.

MacArthur, the mayor of Randolph Township in Morris County, is seeking the nomination for the seat currently held by Jon Runyan, who served two terms in Congress and is retiring this year.

Numerous Republicans are pursuing the nomination, including former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan, who lost to Cory Booker in last year’s special election for the U.S. Senate, and State Sen. Christopher Connors.

The Ocean County Republicans are also likely to support MacArthur.

The Third Congressional District is made up of parts of Ocean and Burlington counties, including Cinnaminson.

The primary takes place June 3.
