Cinnaminson Gets 'Clean Communities' Grant

Mayor Don Brauckmann said new trashcans will be added to the list of what to buy this year.

Cinnaminson is once again the recipient of a grant aimed at promoting a clean and green environment.

The “Clean Communities” grant, from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, gives the township a little more this year than it has in recent years.

The township is set to receive $26,111.82, about $2,000 more than it did last year.

Mayor Don Brauckmann said township officials have talked about how to use the grant money.

“This year, we’re going to buy some nicer trashcans with a message on there that’s consistent with the grant’s message,” Brauckmann said. “Like ‘Keep Our Community Clean.’”

The trashcans they would buy would be for the township’s and outside places like the .

“We’ll be helping out our friends at the Pompeston Creek Watershed Association (PCWA), helping the kids at the school and at clean-up day,” Brauckmann said.

In the past—and this year—grant money will be distributed to the PCWA, a non-profit that promotes the restoration and conservation of the Pompeston Creek, which runs through Cinnaminson.

Brauckmann said some money would go to the for materials that remind the children the importance of taking care of the environment and to recycle.

“It’s really all about promoting a clean community,” Brauckmann said. “Anything we can do, we’ll do, to promote a clean environment.”
