Five Things on Tonight's Township Committee Agenda

The governing body will discuss Palmyra using the town's courtroom and whether a consultant will provide "extraordinary, unspecifiable services" to Cinnaminson.

Cinnaminson’s township committee has a special meeting tonight, Monday, at 6:30 p.m. at the municipal building. Here are five things on the agenda:

1. The committee will consider “authorizing an amendment to an agreement for extraordinary, unspecifiable services with FJMA, LLC.” FJMA—or First Jersey Municipal Assistance—is a consultant firm based in Lumberton. The company specializes in municipal management issues.

2. The committee will discuss Palmyra using Cinnaminson’s courtroom.

3. Among new business, the committee will discuss “site plan enforcement” for Paula’s Family Restaurant.

4. The closing on Cinnaminson acquiring Barone’s, a vacant service station, appears to be drawing closer. The committee will vote on allowing the mayor and clerk to sign all documents on the closing. The committee voted in March to acquire the property (Township Springs for Service Station).

5. The committee will vote on whether to hire RNM Construction, LLC, to handle Memorial Park’s concession stand and restroom renovations.

The full agenda is below. It was current as of Friday afternoon:

I do not understand why the township is considering site plan enforcement for Paula's yet it appears they are not concerned about the missing sidewalk at Ken Gertie's property at Meetinghouse Road and Rt. 130. I hope there is a good explanation. I hope the township treats Paula with exactly the same respect as they do Ken while they honor Cinnaminson's (and the county's) commitment to install sidewalks on Rt. 130 in an effort to save the lives of pedestrians walking on Rt. 130. Our county’s portion of Rt. 130 is winning awards for being the most dangerous highway for pedestrians in the state. For those unaware, earlier this year Ken Gertie promised to put in sidewalks during his presentation before council. He was seeking approval of his building plans. Based on his commitment to put in sidewalks, his plans were approved. But now winter is approaching and the sidewalks have not been put in. He must be near completion, he is now advertising for tenants. The question is will the township require him to honor his commitment? 9:39 am on Monday, November 12, 2012 When will we be able to pay our sewer bills online? It is the ONLY bill that we are not able to pay in any modern way. The convenience cost should easily be payed back by the increase in compliance to settle open balances. Or, if the convenience cost was passed on to the consumer many people are familiar with these cost and accept them with many of their already regular monthly bill payments. This type of bill pay method is so easy to set up and is well over due to be implemented. When I have inquired about this topic when going in to pay my bill I am told that very many Cinnaminson residents and business owners have been requesting this convenience and to date there is no good explanation on why we are still so antiquated in method. Please reply to: George at demikids65@yahoo.com

I had the exact same question on Paula's as well. What do they mean by "site enforcement". I think there needs to be a follow-up before the meeting tonight since some can't make it with the last second notice.
Maureen November 12, 2012 at 04:59 PM
What is the issue at Paula's? There seems to be a change at the site and I knew the owners were previously approached by a drug store chain, but have no current info? Fill me in please.

anyone who has seriously studied local government has come to the same conclusion: home rule is the most in efficient form of providing services. Gov Christie agrees with me which is why his cap on spending is intended to pursuade towns there is a better way. obviously, not many local officials agree as they enjoy the power of controlling their fiefdoms. now Palmyra wants to share a courtroom while Riverton has long been using Palmyra's. there is a two mile line between my house and my kid's house in Palmyra, yet i pass through three police and school districts. even the golf course straddles three towns. it's really kind of stupid and it serves no one but local employees. we need to either consolidate or never complain about taxes. i urge all residents to visit http://www.couragetoconnectnj.org/ the next time someone says they're moving to PA or DE because of property taxes, ask yourself, how many people make up a township in those states compared to NJ?
John November 12, 2012 at 07:10 PM
I noticed in the closed section of the meeting tonight they are discussing contract negotiations, for whom?
FbS November 12, 2012 at 07:31 PM
Why don't you people who hide behind computers and complain, come to the meeting tonight and pose your questions face to face? That would be way more productive then what you are doing now here.
Don R November 12, 2012 at 08:32 PM
Frank are you serious? Have you ever attended a meeting? If you have you know how useless it is. Thanks for the laugh!
Ric November 12, 2012 at 08:36 PM
Oh Frank, stop your hissy fits over people expressing opinions at Patch. If you look into Patch, included in its mission is to serve as a place for people to express opinions, issues and concerns. I know Frank that back in your Kensington days no one every spoke up against authority but this is not Philly. THANK GOD! Do you always have to carry on when someone questions something about the township? What is it to you
cooney November 12, 2012 at 09:24 PM
What would that accomplish Frank? Many of us have been there and have done that..It's the reason we don't go back. The meetings could be packed; not one of us will get a vote by attending. That's from experience Frank, not just say so.
Bull Pitt November 12, 2012 at 09:42 PM
Had to LOL Ric. If you don't think the township is all over Ken Gertie and his sidewalks, you are nuts. The guy is not even in the building himself yet. You sound like the morons on Twp committee. I'm sure he will put in sidewalks before he opens for business, isn't that reasonable? Or should he spend his money so the nomads can walk on the corner before he takes care of the inside!
Bull Pitt November 12, 2012 at 09:52 PM
Frank, One must ask questions to committee on this site, hidden in anonymity, or suffer the consequences. The results and answers will be the same.
Donkey Kong November 12, 2012 at 10:11 PM
Hey, I see that they are discussing Township vehicles tonight. Remember CarGate? Well, if you happened to drive by the Municipal building and PD over the weekend, you might have seen John Marshall's Durango parked there all weekend. You also may NOT have seen the Public Safety Directors new Charger, or the Director of Public Work's SUV. Appears a decision has already been made citizens, and it was what we all knew all along. This meeting is the same old thing, they have already made all of the back room deals, and these meetings are where they TELL you what THEY already decided. There are no open discussions, or input from the public. Don't waste your time, unless you are on the Brownie list like Frank, or if you contribute to the local GOP.
Ric November 12, 2012 at 10:19 PM
Why on earth would Ken worry about a few people, “nomads” as you put down with disdain, wearing out a concrete sidewalk? As usual you make no sense. Those sidewalks should have been installed by now. Winter is about to start. The fact is Ken is leasing out space so the building is about ready, he has no reason not to have the sidewalks installed by now. So why are you afraid of my asking about Ken’s lack of sidewalks? Why does my question scare you? Sorry but I no more trust the republicans than I do the democrats in this town. I do not know who they represent but it certainly is not the taxpayer.
Cargate is NO joke November 12, 2012 at 11:33 PM
I live around* Manor Rd and noticed the different vehicles in the PD parking lot. Are they really going to go ahead with this matter regardless of what the public had to say about it? Go back to the past articles here on Patch referencing this matter. This is a true disregard of the taxpaying public if this IS the verdict on the subject. Wow, no smoke and mirrors? This type of arrogance is another prime example of what this committee is capable of, underhanded and sneaky. NOT a happy camper, what has happened to our town and the people who are suppose to look out for us?
FbS November 13, 2012 at 02:11 AM
Never lived in Kenso Eric. That's your domain, bud.. And to all, I try to attend every meeting and know speaking up there sure is lot better then hiding nameless behind a computer and complaining.
Bull Pitt November 13, 2012 at 03:51 AM
Yea Frankie, your like their personal little Cheerleader, and when they have no further use for you, they will throw you to the wolves, like they are doing to Mr. Marshall, and the many others before him. If you were at the meeting tonight, you would know what I'm talking about.
Bruce November 13, 2012 at 10:37 AM
What ever happened to the project at the old Cinnaminson Home?
Silvia November 14, 2012 at 02:11 PM
Don’t let them bully you off the comment page Frank. You see, this is Chicago Style bullying at its finest where they want to control people’s thoughts by dominating the comment section with the negative. I am sure if you uncovered the true identity of these commenter’s, you would find people who have suffered because of their own actions and were then held accountable or they are the friends or family of these people supporting them. People can say whatever they want here, positive or negative, and not everybody has an agenda. Like you, I love this town and prefer to see the positive things over the negative too; however, I don’t bully and gang up on those with an opposing point of view. Our constitution provides us our freedom of speech and No one should ever bully anyone into suppressing that right!
Leeroy Jenkins November 14, 2012 at 05:36 PM
Hey Donkey and CarGate, I find it interesting that you two were so confident that Mr. King would be allowed to take his charger home yet this township committee voted different. What happened? I thought the decision was made all along? Back door deals already struck? Same old thing? Durka, durka, durka? I wonder if you will ever admit you were wrong? Such a shame that you are so out of touch with what’s going on in town and especially at the p.d! Let’s do this, I’m Lee…roy Jen k.i.n.s.
FbS November 14, 2012 at 06:08 PM
Thanks Silvia. You understand, as do I.. Oh and don't worry I know the real identities of most the people who post here and you are correct about why they post as they do.. Some live miserable lives and they tend to try make other lives difficult too. But it does not bother me. :) Have a great day and enjoy Cinnaminson! I know wee are! Oh and I guarantee if I met any one of the 'bullyers' here in real life they would be nice to me face. Its the internet bully syndrome that applies sometimes.
Prince of Palmyra November 14, 2012 at 09:49 PM
Why is anyone surprised that the Republican regime ignores the community's voice, selective enforces code, abuses power and spends money on pet projects? Those are the same traits that got them elected. Conservatives are only conservative about serving the many---but are generous on serving their own needs.
Eric November 17, 2012 at 02:52 AM
I wouldn't be nice to you if I met you face to face. I would rip into you for forcing everyone in this town to believe that everything in this town is perfect and we couldn't possibly be living a better life like absolutely no crime goes on here and there isn't one bad restaurant in town. You're vision of the world is so diluted and filled with rainbows and lollipops that you obviously need to get out more. Cinnaminson's not as great as you paint it to be.
Eric November 17, 2012 at 02:54 AM
I wouldn't be nice to you if I met you face to face. Oooohhhh someone that would actually be mean to you. Oh my god it's the end of the world someone doesn't like Frank!
John December 17, 2012 at 04:43 PM
