Five Things You Should Know About Tonight's Township Committee Meeting

County officials will discuss possible reconfigurations to Riverton Road and Branch Pike.

Here are some things to know about tonight's meetings:

 

1. Township Committee will hold two back-to-back meetings this evening—the work session meeting at 6:30 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 8 p.m. The work session is held in the conference room in the while the regular meeting is in the chambers of the township building. Both are open to the public.

2. Officials from Burlington County will be present at the township's work session at 6:30 p.m. to talk about reconfiguring the intersection of Riverton Road and Branch Pike.

3. Township committee will introduce an ordinance to change some wording of Township Code regarding the environmental commission. Deputy Mayor Anthony Minniti said last week having an ad hoc committee—not an official commission—could be a good idea for bigger township projects and could be called upon in such cases.

 

4. Committee members plan to pass a resolution opposing the water rate increases set forth by New Jersey American Water Company (NJAW). The company is seeking a 20 percent increase in rates throughout the county. 

 

5. A ordinance will be introduced to amend the parking and roadway obstructions code for the township. Minniti said this ordinance would give police the authority to write citations for certain parking violations and brush left in the street. Committeeman Ben Young, also the director of public works, said officials at public works have been contacting neighbors who still have leaves out on their curbs or put brush out after it's already been picked up.
