Burlington County residents can now keep abreast of important county news via Nixle.

Freeholder Director Joe Donnelly announced last week the county will now be sending important messages and notifications out through Nixle, an emergency management communications system that allows government and public safety organizations to send notifications and alerts to registered email addresses and cell phones.

“Nixle is a great way for our community to receive timely, accurate information from the county,” said Donnelly “Nixle will be used for community alerts and emergency notifications,” such as weather conditions, road closures and important notices.

Donnelly said the new system was a significant step forward.

“Now, the community has the option of receiving information as soon as it is available and without any delays,” he said.

Residents can register online for free at www.nixle.com and choose whether to receive alerts as a text message, email, a notification on the Nixle smartphone app, or to view it online.

“This is another step in our enhanced communication and transparency plan,” said Donnelly. “We want all of our residents to know exactly what is going on in the county.”
