New Bathrooms, Concession Stand in Place at Wood Park

Deputy Mayor Don Brauckmann hopes it will be fully operational in two weeks.

The for is finally in place and should be open for business in a couple weeks, said Deputy Mayor Don Brauckmann.

Last week, three trucks carrying the prefabricated structure delivered the pieces. Cranes put all the pieces into place. The area around the new building, Brauckmann said, still needs concrete, landscaping and an official inspection.

“It’s still a work in progress,” said Brauckmann, who's also the township's director of parks and recreation. “Nothing is as fast as I’d like, but in the grand scheme of things, we’re building a building that’s going to be around for generations.”

The structure, now sitting where the former bathrooms were housed, has a women’s room with one handicapped stall and one regular stall, and a sink with a counter for changing babies.

The men’s room also has a sink with a counter, two urinals (one child-sized) and a stall in the back.

On the other side of the building is a concession stand and there is room for storage as well.

“Given the budget, it was the best application of dollars for its size,” Brauckmann said. “I’m thrilled.”

Brauckmann hopes to hold a grand opening ceremony July 21 before the that evening.

“I couldn’t be happier,” Brauckmann said. “I think it’s a beautiful building, very classy. It blends in with the park. I can’t wait until people can see the finished product.”

The township received a Municipal Park Development Program grant from county freeholders in the amount of $250,000 for the project.

In late May, the township received an additional $185,000 and is exploring the idea of improvements to Memorial Park and Fountain Farms.
