Runyan Visits Scene of Seaside Fire

The Congressman of New Jersey's Third District called the devastation an 'absolute tragedy,' and vowed to do everything he could to help Seaside rebuild.

Congressman Jon Runyan visited the scene of the Seaside boardwalk fire Friday. Following his visit, he made the following statement regarding the devastation:

"This is an absolute tragedy for the Seaside community, its residents, and businesses—especially after the enormous success of the towns’ post-Sandy rebuilding efforts. I would like to thank our brave and courageous first responders who were immediately at the scene battling the flames, and helped ensure that no lives were lost.

"I have been in contact with several government agencies determining how federal assistance can be provided to Seaside. Touring the damage on the boardwalk earlier today (Friday) was an all too familiar scene. However, I can assure you that I will fight to ensure that Seaside rebuilds stronger than ever before."
