Sen. Diane Allen Named Legislator of the Year

She will receive the honor in Atlantic City this spring.

The New Jersey Conference of Mayors has tabbed Sen. Diane Allen (R-Burlington) as its Legislator of the Year. She will receive the award at the organization's spring conference in Atlantic City.

“I’m honored to be recognized by the Conference of Mayors and want to express my sincere appreciation for the tireless work the conference’s members perform serving communities across the state,” Allen said in a post on the New Jersey Senate Republicans' website. “Mayors are the public officials who are truly on the front lines of government. Their job representing residents and providing needed public services may be the toughest and most important of them all and my hat is off to all who choose to take on those duties. I am grateful for their willingness to serve and for their support as we work together on behalf of the good people of New Jersey. I look forward to continued collaboration as we fight to control costs and make communities more affordable for taxpayers.”

Allen was elected in 1998 and has been Deputy Minority Leader since 2006. She served in the General Assembly from 1996-98.

In March, Allen was installed as Chair of the National Foundation for Women Legislators.

The New Jersey Conference of Mayors is a group of leading mayors whose mission is to provide a unified approach and open line of communication with state and federal legislatures and administrations that reflects the will of the people of New Jersey and works to improve the health and well being of all its residents.
