Why would anyone nominate a burger from a chain? The best local burger is at Ott's five-points.

Pour House Burger

This just gave me a great idea. I'm going to open my own burger place in SJ since you've just made me realize there isn't any good burger places in SJ. Thanks PATCH.

How can Pour House, or even the Inferno Burger at Pop Shop, not be on this list?
Lauren Burgoon (Editor) August 2, 2012 at 03:18 pm
Hi readers, We had the nominations open for three weeks on this and the other Readers' Choice topics - these were the burger places readers nominated.
Sean McCullen August 2, 2012 at 03:36 pm
And, not for nothing, but Five Guys burgers are up there with any mom-and-pop establishment. And this comes from a guy who loves his burgers and spends plenty of time eating burgers in Philly and New York City (that was for you, McConkey).
Eric August 2, 2012 at 03:40 pm
I can't think of any really good burger places in South Jersey and certainly not in Cinnaminson so I'm not gonna say.
Eric August 2, 2012 at 03:42 pm
You guys also realize there is a Five Guys in Mount Laurel too right? How come only the ones in Cinnaminson and Sicklerville get nominated? Mays well nominate he whole chain.
Lauren Burgoon (Editor) August 2, 2012 at 04:11 pm
Yep, Five Guys all over the place. These are just the ones that were nominated. Maybe the fries are a little more or less peanut oily at these locations? But really, I would think this is just where our readers happen to eat and so that's what they nominated.
Jay August 2, 2012 at 04:28 pm
The Pour House has far and away the best burgers, should be able to write them in. Having 2 Five Guys on the list is like having 2 McDonalds, makes no sense.
Phil McConkey August 2, 2012 at 06:08 pm
SJ magazine just said "The Coastline" has the best hamburger". And with the Pour House pulling hard for write in votes I just put in my resignation. "Get Buzy Livin Burgers" will be up and running in 30 days. Location TBD

Friendly advice to you, Phil: Keep the NY Giants and other NY sports gear out of your restaurant. Or you'll be closing shop in a month.
Sean McCullen August 2, 2012 at 06:36 pm
Look, I agree that including two Five Guys is a bit suspect. That said, as Lauren previously mentioned, we're honoring nominations from those readers who took the time to log on to our various South Jersey Patch sites and offer their favorites during the three-week nomination period. This is a fun contest, folks. Let's not be so darn serious all the time. You're going to make yourselves miserable (if you're not already there).

I love El Sitio's burger. The first place I thought of before reading the nominees.

Can't beat Elevation burgers.
Grass fed, organic and tasty.

We were totally disappointed at the Palmyra Council Meeting last night. The ordinance requiring theRead More Inspection, Registration, and Licensing of Residential Rental Properties was opposed by many concerned citizens. Concerns were stated and questions asked, but few were answered or addressed! I still do not know if the NJ State code supercedes this ordinance, since no one addressed my concerns. The legality of this ordinance was questioned and it was mentioned that similar laws have been challenged in other towns and invalidated by the NJ courts. Why did the council not form a committee with those landlords that expressed a willingness to work together to come to an acceptable compromise and passage of an ordinance that is legal and for the good of all of Palmya?
Mystery Diner June 18, 2013 at 10:11 pm
I actually agree with most of what you say. If they face a court challenge and lose, they are dumberRead More than I thought. My point is that something has to be done. I feel that inaction is unacceptable. I literally have neighbors moving/trying to move because of 1 or 2 rental properties. Garbage on the lawn. Garbage in the street. Lawn only gets cut twice a year. Broken glass in the street. Multiple cars taking up space in front of homeowner's homes. Junk cars leaking oil in the streets. Broken porches, railings and windows. The drugs. The drugs. They should enforce current codes! The police should do their jobs. I hope that these new rules don't hurt innocent people, but some landlords have shown that they don't give a damn about the community that their "investments" are in.
Phyllis Blackeby June 18, 2013 at 10:26 pm
I only wish that they would use the laws on the books. If 800 violations have been written sinceRead More April, then why do they need to pass this ordinance and have excessive fees and hurt me the small landlord who just spent over $7,000 fixing up my apartment. Palmyra has a large budget deficit, is this ordinance how the Council hopes to remedy the budget problem- $125. at a time?

Thanks, Jennifer.

There are fireworks in the 300 block of Wayne Drive, sometimes at 3 a.m.

This is great, we send our kids to school to read write and do math and yet when they have to putRead More things down for writing something for a college admissions we have to send them to professionals for help....So in esscence we are wasting our tax money and just providing teachers with a salary....No wonder the USA is in trouble...If its not on an I phone we cannot do it....Food for thought....
