Burlington County College Provost Appointed College's Interim President

Dr. David Spang replaces David Hespe, who was named State Education Commissioner earlier this month.

The provost at Burlington County College has been named the college’s interim vice president, the Cinnaminson Sun reports.

The Board of Trustees appointed Burlington County College Chief Academic Officer Dr. David Spang to the position, according to the report.

Spang replaces David Hespe. Hespe was appointed New Jersey State Education Commissioner by Gov. Chris Christie earlier this month, according to philly.com. Hespe held the position from September of 2012 through March 20 of this year.

Spang, of Medford, has also served as President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Science, Mathematics and Technology. He came to the college in 2005, according to the Cinnaminson Sun.

Spang had been working on the periodic review report for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, according to the report.
