Cinnaminson High School's Interact Club held its fourth annual talent show last week, with 19 students competing and displaying an array of talents, including dancing, singing, piano- and violin-playing, and more.

More than $1,500 was raised, to be split between Hydraid (www.hydraid.org) and Shelter Boxes (www.shelterboxusa.org), both charities promoted by the Interact Club sponsor, the Palmyra-Riverton-Cinnaminson Rotary Club.

The club has raised more than $9,000 from the talent show over the last four years, and will have purchased five Shelter Boxes ($1,000 each), donated more than $3,000 to Hydraid, and contributed almost $1,000 to Red Cross relief efforts.

  • First place tie: Amaris Kobolak and Evan Fleming, who donated their $50 prize back to the charities
  • Second place: Kim Goins on piano
  • Third place to dance group “Q-Bawockeez”

Over the years, more than half of the students have donated their winnings back to the charities.

"I’m very proud of our students (and some of the faculty, who willingly cavort on stage each year, with some serious rehearsal efforts)," wrote Kathleen Hennelly, a moderator for the Interact Club.

The Interact Club attracts about 150-180 students each year to carry out the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.” The club holds at least one activity per month, including running a dance for the ARC or Burlington County each February, helping at Rotary’s party for disabled students at Burlington County Special Services School in the spring and adopting needy families in the district at holiday time (and baking about 200 dozen cookies for all the adopted families), among a number of other activities.
