Llewellyn: "As a person and professional, Carlo exemplifies everything an educator should strive to be. If there is a new idea that he believes will make his students better learners, he will not hesitate to implement it. He treats every lesson and each student with the same passion … He’s often the last teacher to leave the building, and back again on weekends, making sure our yearbook is the meticulous piece of art it has become."

Cinnaminson Middle School Teacher of the Year Diana Maloney

Principal Frank Goulburn: "(Maloney) creates an environment that is respectful, warm and caring. It is no wonder that her students thrive in the safe environment that she has established … She is one of the teachers with the biggest hearts in our school."

Middle School Achievement Award winner Diane McKeen

Goulburn: "The self-described 'goddess of math' creates lessons that grab her students’ attention and encourages their creativity. Her many interactive projects include student-created mathematical artwork—which she shares in the hallways of our school—Pi Day activities, costumed activities, and mathematically-based 100-day activities … Mrs. McKeen also finds time to coordinate several community-based activities, including her Halloween candy drive and the district senior citizen luncheon in December."

Rush Intermediate School Teacher of the Year Bethany Nelson

Principal Deborah Banecker: "Ms. Nelson demonstrates a strong commitment to creating a climate of caring and respect, conducive to effective teaching and learning. She is an advocate for her students … She truly believes all students can learn to high levels of achievement. Ms. Nelson exemplifies a high standard of excellence in teaching."

Rush School Achievement Award winner Linda Conn

Banecker: "(Conn) goes above and beyond her job description. She is always willing to help whenever needed … Mrs. Conn demonstrates a strong commitment to creating a climate of caring and respect. Her good character is consistently modeled."

New Albany Elementary School Teacher of the Year Carol Kremus

Principal John Layden: "Mrs. Kremus does an outstanding job teaching all of her students and working collaboratively with our staff. Her students are always actively involved in learning that is fun and motivating ... Mrs. Kremus is known for taking on challenges with a smile … She is a master in her field and a wonderful example of a great teacher who consistently goes above and beyond her regular duties."

New Albany Achievement Award winner Maria Ruppert

Achievement Award winner Thomas McHugh, operations department employee

Facilities Director Peter Galosi: "He's been a dedicated employee from day one. He never complains about any job he’s given ... He’ll do anything that’s needed for the safety of the students and faculty. He’s a humble person whose top priority is taking care of the students. He truly deserves this award."

Administrative staff member Lorraine Zona was also presented with an Achievement Award for her work at the Memorial School building.

Linda DiMassimo, who resigned last month after a decade on the school board, was also recognized by the rest of the board and presented with a plaque for her years of service.
