Class of 2012: "The Classiest Class in Cinnaminson History"

Cinnaminson High School graduated 194 seniors at Monday's commencement ceremony.

“The classiest class” in years to receive their diplomas gathered on ’s football field Monday evening at the schools 46th commencement ceremony.

The Class of 2012 graduated 194 seniors and will be remembered as one of the best-behaved class in recent memory, said their principal.

“This class has been remarkable,” said Principal Darlene Llewellyn during opening remarks.

Llewellyn spoke about the importance of being “significant” rather than being “popular.”

“The popular people are not the people who make the biggest impact,” she said. “It’s the significant people.”

The nearly 200 graduates have garnered more than $6.4 million in scholarships and grant money, said Llewellyn. And the Class of 2012 was particularly special, she said, because of two big undertakings—, a one-take lip synching music video that went viral, and , a club that promotes kindness.

Llewellyn said the prom was a perfect example of the students not caring who was popular.

“It’s the classiest class in Cinnaminson history,” she said.

Senior Class President Ian Albasi took to the stage and told classmates “all of you are my family” as he singled out particular friends he made growing up and during high school.

The Class of 2012’s valedictorian echoed Llewellyn’s message about being significant and doing meaningful things.

“We must continue to expand our horizons so that we may lead and help, and have a positive impact on those around us,” .

She ended with saying, “I am confidant that the future will not get the better of us, but we will make the best of it. For although the one undeniable aspect of time is that it is unstoppable, so are we.”

, this year’s salutatorian, recited lyrics from “A Whole New World,” the popular Disney song from Aladdin.

“We are pursuing new horizons,” she said. “We are starting bigger and better things. Regardless of what path we choose, we should always follow our dreams, aim to accomplish our goals and trust our instincts.”

Superintendent Salvatore Illuzzi reminded the graduates of puzzle pieces they put into a box when they were eighth-graders about to make the transition to high school. He had the box with him at graduation.

“You are a puzzle—every piece plays a part,” he said.

Congrats to the class of 2012! Everyone always bragged at how great you guys were, and as a underclassman I just rolled my eyes, but yesterday I realize how awesome you guys were as a whole and individually! You guys made my past three years at CHS the best and I'm left with great memories. Thanks <3 -mtarte

I am so proud of all these students. Some of my favorite students graduated this year. I am so disappointed that I didn't get to drive for Project Graduation this year.
