Gang awareness seminar

The Burlington Vicinage will host a gang awareness seminar in the Jury Assembly Room at the Courts Facility.

Parents and members of the public are invited to attend this free program to learn more about why children join gangs and what parents can do to prevent their children from joining.

The program is presented by the Superior Court Advisory Committee on Minority Concerns and the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department.

Sgt. John Zell and Investigator Dominick Fabrizio of the Sheriff’s Department will present a slideshow on gang affiliation and discuss topics relating to gang culture, signs, clothing, and markings. The program will include informative displays, handouts and conclude with an opportunity to ask questions.

The Superior Court’s Advisory Committee on Minority Concerns is made up of members of the Burlington County community, bar association members, and court employees.  The committee is charged with helping the court improve the administration of justice for all court users and to increase communication with the community by offering educational programs on court services and programs.

“Community education is a critical piece of the committee’s work,” said Judge James W. Palmer, Jr., chair of the Vicinage Advisory Committee on Minority Concerns. “We encourage the public to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about this important topic.”
