High School SAT Scores Rise for the Class of 2012

Students scored nearly 70 points higher than the previous graduating class.

Cinnaminson High School students in 2012 scored more than 20 points higher on their SATs in each of the three parts of the test than the class of 2011.

At Wednesday's board of education meeting, SAT scores were revealed for the last two graduating classes. 

In 2011, CHS students scored an average of 492 on the critical reading section, 502 on the math section and 484 on the writing section. That's a total of 1,478.

The national average in 2011 was 1,500. The state average was 1,508.

A perfect score on the SATs is a 2,400.

For 2012, students scored 68 points higher on the SAT overall. The high school average in critical reading is 513, in math it's 523 and in writing, it's 510. That's a total of 1,546.

The national average for 2012 is 1,498—two points lower than 2011. The state average is 1,511—three points higher than last year.

Superintendent Salvatore Illuzzi calls the improvement a "significant leap."
