Music Makers Perform in Trenton

Choir sings for lieutenant governor on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The Eleanor Rush Intermediate School Music Makers performed at the 25th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Celebration at the Trenton War Memorial Complex Jan. 16.

The choir, which won the B101 Christmas Choir Competition with its rendition of “Boogie Woogie Santa Claus” and sang at the Kimmel Center with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops, performed two spirituals at the King celebration in the War Memorial’s auditorium Patriots Theater.

Lt. Gov. Kim Guadango, along with 1,800 spectators, gave the group a standing ovation.

The choir was able to meet and talk to Guadango before the show. Guadango took time to answer the students’ questions.

Music Makers is an after-school choir. Music teacher Natasha Sigmund started the program four years ago. In that time, the choir has grown from 14 to 65 members.
