New Computerized Topography Program Comes to Burlington County College

Burlington County College (BCC) is meeting the demand for skilled health care professionals with its new Computerized Tomography (CT) certificate program set to start in fall 2014. 

The program is geared toward technologists who are certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy, and want to advance their career by becoming trained in CT.  

“BCC is committed to fulfilling workforce demands, embracing new technologies and providing professionals access to high-quality programs that will enhance their careers,” BCC Interim President Dr. David I. Spang said. “We are confident that the new CT certificate program will equip radiologic technologists with the competencies they need to succeed in a very important and constantly evolving field.”

As CT scan technology advances, health care professionals are able to determine a more accurate diagnosis, which leads to better care and patient outcomes.

Since CT scans gather much more data than traditional X-rays, the number of CT scans performed each year has increased to more than 70 million.

“The new CT certificate program at BCC will prepare techs academically, clinically and professionally, and give them the knowledge they need to be certified in Computerized Tomography by the world’s leading credentialing agency for technologists, ARRT,” said Elizabeth Price, BCC Director of Radiologic Sciences.

The program is limited 20 students and will be offered in the evenings for the convenience of working professionals in a hybrid format, meaning both face-to-face instruction and online courses.

Twenty-eight weeks of program courses will be coupled with 120 hours of hands-on clinical practicum.

Applicants must have their ARRT RT(R), NJ State Radiology Technology License, and a written recommendation from their supervisor or current program director.
