Cinnaminson Baseball Team Falls to Pennsville in Diamond Classic

The Pirates dropped a 10-6 decision to Pennsville in the first round of the tournament.

Cody McNair was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run, but it wasn't enough as the Cinnaminson High School baseball team fell to Pennsville, 10-6, in the first round of the Diamond Classic at Overbrook Regional High School on Saturday, according to nj.com.

The Pirates took an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the second, including a two-run single with two outs by Nick Thevanayagam, according to the report.

The three-run second gave Cinnaminson a 3-2 lead. The lead wasn't to be, as Pennsville rallied for the win,

Cinnaminson fell to 13-6 and return to the diamond Tuesday at Shawnee, 3:45 p.m.

Pennsville improved to 17-1 and will face Northern Burlington in the second round of the tournament.

The first place teams in the nine South Jersey high school baseball divisions earn automatic bids to the tournament. Seven teams earn at-large bids based on ranking.

Cinnaminson earned an at-large bid to the tournament.
