Cinnaminson Boys Basketball Team Kicks Off Season with Win

The wrestling team placed third at the Nottingham Invitational.

The Cinnaminson High School boys basketball team went on the road to start the season and picked up a convincing 53-46 win over Northern Burlington Friday night, according to NJ.com.

Will Cabbler led the way with 15 points, including two three-pointers.

Jackson Merget had nine points, followed by Brad Hawthorne and Mark Staudenmayer with seven points each.

The Pirates jumped out to a 10-2 lead after the first quarter and held a 21-12 lead at halftime.

Cinnaminson is 1-0 and plays its home opener Jan. 3 against Delran.

Girls basketball

The girls basketball team rebounded from an opening night loss to Northern Burlington to defeat Pennsauken, according to NJ.com.

Cinnaminson dropped a 48-42 decision to Northern Burlington at home Friday night. The Pirates held a 35-34 lead after three quarters, but was outscored 14-7 in the final stanza.

The Pirates bounced back the following day with a 58-24 win over Pennsauken. Cinnaminson jumped out to a 17-2 lead in the first quarter and extended its lead to 35-7 at halftime. 

Wrestling

Ryan Adelsberger captured the 195-pound championship at the Nottingham Invitational on Saturday, according to nj.com.

He pinned Cherry Hill East’s Frank Kelly in three minutes, 16 seconds in the final.

Last season, Adelsberger was 19-6 with nine wins by pinfall.

Tom Halecki advanced to the 220-pound final before falling to Nottingham’s Wroway Williams in the final. Williams scored the pin in 17 seconds.

As a team, Cinnaminson finished third, scoring 109 points. Ridge took first place with 148 points, and Nottingham scored 119 for second.
