NJ Team Booted from Big League World Series

A discipline issue sends the Cumberland County-based team home early.

A New Jersey baseball team representing the East in the Big League World Series has been disqualified for vandalizing a dorm where they were staying in South Carolina.

Tournament Director Jon Humphrey said the Cumberland County District 3 team was disqualified from the tournament for disciplinary reasons.

“They will not participate in the remaining games,” Humphrey said. “The entire team is being removed and is being sent back."

While Humphrey said Monday he could not go into detail about the offending incident, The Daily Journal in Vineland reported team members damaged a door at the dorm. Enough players were involved that the team didn't have a large enough roster to field a team.

The Big League World Series is played in Easley, SC; the team was staying at Southern Wesleyan University.
