CHS Alumni Band to Perform in the Park

This first-ever event, called the 'Performance in the Park,' is this week.

Come for the music, get caught up in the nostalgia and stay for the fun as 's first Alumni Band performs in the park for friends and neighbors.

Deb Knisely, the concert, marching and jazz band teacher at Cinnaminson High School, will be conducting many of her former students again.

“I have had a number of former students ask about doing an event like this, so I decided this summer would be a good time to give it a go,” Knisley said.

More than 32 CHS graduates will be participating, including students who graduated as far back as 2004 and even those who moved on just a few months ago in 2012.

Coordinating a show like this was not an easy task.

“I would like to thank all the players participating, as well as Joy Korn for her help in contacting the alumni and getting the word out. Without her help, this event could not happen,” said Knisely.

Korn has known many of the former band members since they were in middle and high school in Cinnaminson. The parent of three CHS band members, Korn was the marching band booster president for many years while her children participated.

“Many students started playing their instruments in fourth grade with John Exley and have been part of CMS and CHS concert and jazz bands as well as CHS narching band and some (continue to play) in their college marching bands," she said.

Korn added,” I know so many of the kids have said they are so excited for this to work and continue. They loved being part of the CHS band family. I think most of them are excited about getting back together for the social end as much as the music.”

All involved are looking forward to the first of many CHS alumni band concerts. CHS graduates Andrew Korn and Mike Renzi both said they are looking forward to getting back together with old friends and playing together.

Stephanie Korn said she is looking forward "to seeing everyone and remembering the nostalgia of high school and all the fun they always had in marching band.”

Enjoy the nostalgia yourself at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 9, at .
