St. Charles Borromeo Carnival Returning for 45th Year

Mark your calendars—the carnival, one of the state's biggest, is back in town next month.

One of the biggest church carnivals in New Jersey—maybe the biggest—returns for its 45th year in a couple weeks.

The St. Charles Borromeo (SCB) Carnival has become a hugely popular annual attraction, bringing tens of thousands to Cinnaminson during its roughly weeklong run, according to carnival committee chair Dan Walsh.

“It really promotes community. It’s a big draw,” he said.

The carnival, held on church grounds, will run from Monday, June 10, through Saturday, June 15. Pre-sale tickets, which at $10 for 20 tickets are half the regular price, are on sale now until the day before the carnival, Walsh said.

Tickets are sold at the church after Saturday evening and Sunday masses, and can also be purchased online. They can also be purchased at the following businesses:

  • In Cinnaminson: AAA Computer Services, Cinnamon Sticks Learning Center, Harker’s Flowers, Networks Plus, SCB Rectory, SCB School (SCB School students only), Wine Cellar

  • In Palmyra: Fresh Farm Market, Roger's News

  • In Delran: Throwbacks Bar & Grill

In addition to the food, rides, games, prizes and musical entertainment people have come to expect from the carnival, Walsh said this year they’ll also be holding a pet photo contest, dubbed “Toto Foto” in conjunction with the carnival’s Wizard of Oz-inspired theme—“There’s No Place Like Carnival.”

Walsh said participants are encouraged to submit photos of their pooch (or other pet) in a Toto-inspired look.

“I’m hoping people will be creative with it,” he said.

A $5 donation is required to enter the contest. Carnival-goers will vote on the photos using quarters and a winner will be declared each night, with a grand prize winner on Saturday.
