With Thanksgiving in the rear-view, it's time to look forward to Christmas (assuming you haven't already started).

Cinnaminson will come together Friday to kick off the holiday season with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Wood Park. The event, scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m., will feature: pictures with Santa (courtesy of Madison Mae Photography), horse-drawn carriage rides; toy train rides; music by The Manhattan Dolls, as well as the Rush School Music Makers; plus hot chocolate and cookies.

The event will also host a USMC Toys for Tots drop-off box, so if you can, bring an unwrapped toy.

Also on Friday night, the Cinnaminson Community Chorus will hold its holiday concert at the high school. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and students. Kids under 12 get in free.

The Cinnaminson Junior Girl Scout Troop # 21137 is baking cookies to send to troops serving overseas via Operation Yellow Ribbon of South Jersey (which we last saw helping to welcome home Army Pfc. Ryan McGinnis). If anyone would like to donate additional cookies (or anything else), drop them off at the home of Melissa Deeney (2401 Brandeis Ave., Cinnaminson) before Saturday, Dec. 7.

Saturday afternoon, stop by the Cinnaminson Baptist Church for a special handbell choir concert featuring the Jubilee Ringers and the Christian Bell Choir of Burlington. Admission is free for the concert—which begins at 3:30 p.m.—but there will be a freewill offering to benefit the Jubilee Music Enrichment Building Fund.

Cinnaminson School District will hand out high school fall sports awards starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday in the high school auditorium.

Eleanor Rush Intermediate School hold its winter concert at 1 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. show at the high school.

The township will also hold several meetings this week, beginning with a township committee work session at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the municipal building. The zoning board and parks and recreation committee will meet Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, both at 7:30 p.m., both at town hall.

And end the week by visiting Winterfest, Cinnaminson Elementary Home and School Association’s annual fundraiser. The food-and-crafts-heavy event benefits Home and School, which funds a multitude of extracurricular activities and programs for elementary students.

Winterfest begins at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at the high school. Volunteers are always needed. Anyone with questions or who would like to volunteer should contact Christine Turner at cehasawinterfest@yahoo.com or call 609-405-3953.
