Rachel's Challenge, Committee Meeting Highlight Week Ahead

Also, it's homecoming week at Cinnaminson High School.

Township committee meets Monday night and there are several items of interest on the agenda, including discussion of a municipal park grant, a best practices survey and a shared services agreement with Moorestown for the use of Cinnaminson's municipal courtroom.

Committee will also vote to appoint Public Safety Director Mickey King as interim township administrator, approve a memorandum of understanding between the township and the police department, and authorize the township engineer to accept RFPs (requests for proposal) for improvements to the Wood Park tennis court.

The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building.

On Wednesday, Cinnaminson students, their parents and other community members will accept "Rachel's Challenge." The aim of the program—named after Rachel Scott, the first victim in the Columbine High School shooting—is to "equip students and adults to combat bullying and allay feelings of isolation and despair by creating a culture of kindness and compassion."

The daylong program begins with a morning assembly for Cinnaminson high school and (for the first time this year) middle school students, followed by a one-hour interactive "training session" where students will learn how they can "create an atmosphere of kindness," among other things.

In the evening, parents are invited to participate in the program as well. The evening event begins at 7 p.m. in the Cinnaminson High School auditorium.

This week is also homecoming week at the high school, culminating with the homecoming football game against Holy Cross at 7 p.m. Friday, following by Saturday's homecoming dance (also 7 p.m.).
