You cry over a non-existent threat to your guns, yet say nothing when your government sets up a national surveillance state that reads your emails and listens to your calls. That never bothered anyone. Because Freedom. You have guns, yet you sat on your rear end while the government used 9/11 to take away countless freedoms. The real main intention of this law was to protect somebody who is rendering assistance, regardless.Read More If you were to come to an accident and you moved the person out of the car because it was going to burn, but in the intention you caused paralysis due to an injury your had no idea about, you would be granted immunity. You were acting in the best interest of the victim, trying to save their life. If this act was not in effect, nobody would render assistance if they thought about the consequences. Good people with basic human nature would still help. It takes the ambulance chasers to ruin something else like this.

My friend, got her CELLPHONE stolen right out of her hand on the 92 bus and everyone else just satRead More there, she said that someone had lent her their phone, so she could call her mom. She also stated that the cops wouldn't come out just for a stolen cellphone, how do those people know? As for the mom who got a beat down in front of her child, and I was there, I would have been the first to call 911. True story, I went to University Plaza in Newark to pay my cable bill at the Optimum Payment Center, and I grabbed something to eat, anyway, as I was eating in my car, I saw a store owner get hit by some guy, and I put down my food, and picked up my cellphone as I was about to dial 911, I heard the owner say not to, but I had to, even though he was a complete stranger to me, I knew enough to know that if I did nothing, it would've be just as bad as the criminal doing the hitting. I am the type of person who will stand up for anyone if I see what's going on.

People are leaving NJ as fast as they can???? And people are moving into NJ, entrepreneurs,Read More enterprising immigrants (LEGAL) and NJ has a fairly healthy birth rate. But the right wingers and the corporate whores who want us to further lower taxes on big corporations and the wealthy perpetuate the myth that NJ is losing population which is a big fat LIE. In the 1950s, the top marginal tax rate was 91%, now it's 39.6%.
Ridgewood Mom June 19, 2014 at 05:29 pm
Exactly Joe. All that Chris Christie has done as governor is raid the public coffers in order toRead More line the pockets of himself and his cronies. He has achieved this by employing well documented goon squad tactics and perpetuating the lie that the cost of services for the average taxpayer is the source of the state's fiscal challenges, demanding that most people in the state pay more taxes for less services in order to funnel more money to favored corporations and very wealthy individuals.

charlotte, You are living in a bubble. Dream, Dream, Dream darling. Obviously you really do not knowRead More what is going on. It is not the money they do it to for an exchange of favors program to put who they want a head. It helps them in the future for their own. Teachers are shroud in everything they do. Jaelle Lafreni June 16, 2014 at 03:20 am
I feel really sorry for anyone with a breathing problem, I do not consider smoking in front ofRead More children to be allowed. I was raised in a smoking household. I smoke. I enjoy it immensely. One of my 3 children chooses to smoke. I choose to smoke. I have quit for many years and I am not happy when I don't smoke. I try not to invade non smoker areas. I step to a secluded location to indulge. Non smokers can be very aggressive in their intolerance. I will not refrain from my happiness in order to be permitted in an exclusive environment. Therfore unless some consideration is not shown on my behalf, the boardwalk will not recieve my patronage. Smokers are part of the public. They should have their areas.

To I've got the "scoop"" Ellie has a few different diseases. First called HereditaryRead More multifocal retinal dysplasia and retinal folding treated with eye drops. The second is keratoconjunctivitis sicca (chronic dry eye) which needs to be treated with Optimmune which can lead to corneal ulcers, chronic pus comes out of her eye and could lead to blindness if not treated. At first "their" vet stated Ellie just had regular conjunctivitis (infectious) probably caused by being with so many puppies, but not until I took her to a specialist was it determined this was a predisposed condition. Granted cocker spaniels DO have some eye problems but not the extent of Ellie's problems. The next issue she has is distichiasis (ingrown eyelashes) which also increases the pus, irritation, redness so she has to be groomed around her face more often. Her other problem was a "cherry eye". At 5 months old a "piece of meat" started coming out of her left eye. It was diagnosed as a cherry eye. The pet store would ONLY pay for the surgery if I used "their vet". She had the surgery and it did not work so needless to say the "piece of meat" is still hanging out. Again, granted cocker spaniels are "prone" to eye problems BUT IT WAS DETERMINED IN ALL OF HER DISEASES BOTH MOTHER AND FATHER HAVE HAD TO HAVE THESE DISEASES AND WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY APPARENT IN THE ADULTS AND THEY WERE STILL BREEDING THEM. Right now she is stable and is used to getting the medicine in her eyes daily. I love her so much. Again, as stated the pet store DID NOT CARE WHATSOEVER!!!! They made their sale!

John, my whole thing is this...we had a group of people who said that we're going to pay peopleRead More lavish benefits future be damned. Those were the "Greatest Gen" people. Then we had the people who were supposed to start paying the taxes to make good on that, and they didn't meet the obligation because of a lack of will, manifested in the incompetent governors from both parties that they elected. Those were the Boomers. So now I'm here - like most Gen X people 20-25 years away from retirement - stuck with the bill for things other people ordered and then refused to pay for. Now I have to pay the principle and lots of interest as the Boomers retire and head down to Florida. And somehow this is MY fault because I vote Democrat (that is, if you ignore my votes for CC)? Apologies if I don't have a sense of humor about hearing people who created the problem, and will bear little of the consequences, complaining about it and pointing fingers. Look in the mirror, none of this happened by accident.

This is a problem for NJ government and the taxpayers as the wealth is leaving the state. 50Read More billion in the last few years. Just wait till the majority of the boomers leave, taking the rest of the wealth. Then see how the taxes have to be raised to pay for the blob, the bloated governments (county such as Union, Essex, Hudson) and the state of NJ. The smart kids are leaving NJ when they go out of state to college, so the parents have no reason to stay. Housing prices will go down because no one will be able to afford them, and the property taxes, except the New Yorkers who flee their even worse state.
Joe R June 19, 2014 at 09:50 am
Oh baloney, wealth is not leaving NJ, at least not in the sense that you think. NJ has one of theRead More highest percentage of millionaires and billionaires in the country. NJ is one of the richest states in the country. Rich people are not fleeing their wealthy enclaves (even with the high property taxes) such as Princeton or where the governor lives, quite the opposite. According to the last census and almost all of the previous censuses, NJ gained in population. It's still the most densely populated state in the country. The problem is that the big corporations are given all kinds of tax breaks, tax holidays, tax abatements, land giveaways, subsidies and sweetheart deals that either services have to be cut or taxes have to be raised on the rest of us who do not have the clout of Walmart or some billionaire sports team owner.
Charlie Kime June 23, 2014 at 04:40 am
That's an interesting comment Joe R. Five of our neighbors within a two block radius have left theRead More state in the past year. They left for work, retirement, downsizing, etc. This will repeat itself more and more as baby boomers retire. Those remaining are left with the second highest state and local taxes in the country, the worst finances of any state, and an $84bn unfunded liability on risk-free public pensions & unlimited healthcare costs that NJ tax payers have to cover. There has been very little new job creation in NJ mainly because businesses find the state so unfriendly. Only someone benefitting for a sweetheart deal in NJ, i.e. a public pensioner, could complain that it is sweatheart deals for big corporations that drive up our taxes. That's patently false.
