Don't Believe Everything You Read: Flier About Roundabout Meeting Not Accurate

Neither the county nor the township put out the flier, officials say.

A flier left on the windshields of cars and at households across the township lets residents know of a meeting that is not happening. On brightly colored yellow paper, a flier promoting a Wednesday meeting inviting residents to the Cinnaminson Community Center to talk about a county project, is not happening because the county didn't schedule it yet. And neither did the township. The project is the proposed roundabout for the intersection of Parry Road, Riverton Road and Branch Pike "I have no idea where that came from," Mayor Don Brauckmann said of the flier. County Wants to Fix Riverton Road/Branch Pike Intersection

Engineers presented plans to township committee members Monday night.

County engineers are proposing a fix to the deadly intersection that recently claimed the life of a woman during an accident the week before Christmas. Where Branch Pike and Riverton Road meet could get a modern roundabout, a move engineers say could reduce accidents there by 35 percent. County engineers presented the plan to township committee Monday night, and if county freeholders accept the project, construction would start next year. “It’s just a horrible intersection,” Mayor Don Brauckmann said. “Typically, when we get an accident there, it’s bad.” Brauckmann is currently a Moorestown police officer and formerly, an officer in Cinnaminson. “I’m just concerned with the way it will affect residents and those who live there,” Brauckmann…

It boggles the mind to hear that any county would be planning to build a road intersection that every other state, county & town in this country are removing because it was a bad idea when they first built traffic circles in the early 20th century, due to serious operational and safety problems, including the tendency to lock up at higher volumes. Two SUVs Involved in Crash

One SUV was being towed away as another one was severely damaged.

Two SUVS were involved in a crash this afternoon in the southbound lane of Route 130 and Union Landing Road. Cars were backed up into Delran but Cinnaminson police allowed them through when a fire truck left the accident scene around 2:45 p.m. No immediate information is available on the accident.  An eyewitness reported the jaws of life were present at the scene.
