Will the longtime pizza place stay or go?
Brother’s Pizza, as we all know it, is gone. But don’t fear! The owners and recipe aren’t changing, just the name and phone number. That's not so bad, right? As of Jan. 1, 2013, Brother’s Pizza will change its name to Tony’s Pizza. “But we’re having the same food and the same customer relations we’ve always had,” said Tony Scotto, co-owner of the longtime pizza place. Nick Scotto, Tony’s cousin-in-law, started Brother’s in 1978. About 12 years ago, Nick brought on Tony as a co-owner. Earlier this year, Nick wanted Brother’s to move to the Shoppes but Tony wasn’t interested. Nick decided to open his own place—Nick’s Pizza and Pasta—and just recently, he and Tony came to an agreement and parted ways. Both locations will remain open and …

Both owners of Brother's Pizza talk about the longtime restaurant's fate as one owner packs up to move.
It’s still unclear whether Brother’s Pizza will remain open amid rumors it will close, but the original owner is set to officially back out of the restaurant to focus on Nick’s Pizza & Pasta, which he opened at the Shoppes earlier this year. Tony Scotto is the co-owner of Brother’s who remains at the Acme location. He said this week the restaurant may stay open but his involvement isn’t known at this time. Tony didn’t say much more on the topic except that it was “time” for him and other Brother’s owner Nick Scotto “to separate.” Brother's suffered when Acme closed Nick Scotto opened Brother’s Pizza in 1978. In 2000, he brought on longtime employee Tony Scotto as an equal partner. Despite the same last name, Nick and Tony are only …

Owner Nick Scotto will be firing up an expanded menu in his new restaurant.
When Acme market closed in February 2011, Nick Scotto says he was a bit worried. And for good reason. Through Acme’s front doors, hundreds of daily grocery shoppers ambled in to buy bananas, hamburgers or milk on their ways to work, school or home, and passed right by Scotto’s restaurant, Brother’s Pizza, a familiar fixture since 1978. And then the foot traffic stopped. But because of a loyal following—not to mention some of the best pizza in the region—Scotto was able to weather some rough sailing over the last year. Scotto hailed residents: “My local customers stayed with me, even after the Acme closed. That means a lot.” Taking stock of the last 34 years, Scotto says that because of his dedicated patrons, he’s decided to open another…
