A Cinnaminson man was sentenced to seven years in state prison for sexually assaulting a teenage boy in Wood Park more than two years ago. Daniel Smith, of Lenola Road, was sentenced in Superior Court Wednesday, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office. Smith will serve seven years for sexual assault, in accordance with a plea agreement he negotiated in November 2012. Smith had been free on bail pending the sentencing. He will also be on parole supervision for the rest of his life and be required to register as a sex offender upon his release, according to the Burlington County Times. Daniel Smith, the Cinnaminson man who was charged with sexual assault after meeting with a 14-year-old boy at Wood Park, admitted today in Superior Court he performed the act after finding the victim online, local reports said. According to Phillyburbs.com, the plea came the same day Smith, 40, was to go on trial. He pleaded guilty to sexual assault and is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 20. Smith's negotiated plea calls for a seven-year sentence in state prison, according to the Phillyburbs article. The attempted sexual assault and child endangerment charges would be dismissed. Daniel Smith, the Cinnaminson man who allegedly sexually assaulted a local 14-year-old boy in Wood Park in December, pleaded not guilty to the assault, according to Phillyburbs.com. Smith was already serving time after he pleaded guilty in December to a charge of conspiracy to manufacture 1,000 or more marijuana plants with intent to distribute. Police said Smith, 39, of Lenola Road, met the juvenile through a message board online. Smith had been charged with two counts of second degree sexual assault, one count of second degree attempted sexual assault and one count of third degree endangering the welfare of a child.
