BurlCo Farmers Market Reopens Saturday

The best local and seasonal food, along with live entertainment, will be featured every weekend through October.

Burlington County’s popular farmers market will reopen Saturday at the Burlington County Community Agricultural Center at 500 Centerton Road in Moorestown, offering up a sixth season of Jersey Fresh fruits and vegetables and, once again, featuring a variety of live entertainment, baked goods and unique crafts. Last season nearly four dozen vendors—offering fresh produce and other agricultural products, as well as prepared foods, crafts, and other specialty items—were on site, and Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio said this season will bring with it another wide array of offerings for shoppers. “Expect more of the same,” he said. “No one will be disappointed by the selection of the finest fruits and vegetables that area farmers have to …

Planning Meeting for Farmers' Market Tonight

The 2012 farmers' market season begins May 19.

The county is seeking vendors for its sixth annual farmers’ market season and will hold an informational meeting at 5 p.m. today at the Burlington County Community Agricultural Center at 500 Centerton Rd. in Moorestown. The 2012 farmers’ market season begins on Saturday, May 19, and will run through October. Market hours remain the same, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendors can apply online through the county website or by calling the Department of Resource Conservation at 856-642-3850 and requesting an application package be mailed. Those wishing to access the application directly on line should go to co.burlington.nj.us/agcenter.

Farmers Market Vouchers Available to Seniors

Cinnaminson Patch brings you a weekly feature on news and events coming from Burlington County.

Seniors at least 60 years old, who live in Burlington County, and are income eligible, may be able to receive vouchers worth $20 to purchase locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs from the county's farmers market. Proof of residency and age is required. The Burlington County Office on Aging is working with the New Jersey Senior Farmers Market Program to provide these vouchers to eligible local senior citizens. Distribution of the vouchers will begin now and end in September pending availability. The New Jersey Senior Farmers Market Program (SFMNP) provides a nutritional benefit to seniors in order to enhance their diets and to bring awareness and provide opportunity to expand the sales of locally grown produce.
