Visions for Vacancies: What Would You Like to See Here?

Cinnaminson has empty storefronts, you have ideas. What are some of them to fill the former Gold's Gym spot?

Welcome to Cinnaminson Patch's new feature, Visions for Vacancies. Cinnaminson has several empty storefronts and we want to know what residents want to see there. This empty spot—once home to Branch Brook Company—was most recently Cinnaminson Health & Wellness/Gold's Gym. The gym closed abruptly in April of last year. Since then, there have been a few bites for the spot, but nothing stuck. The Mainline Shopping Center has recently gotten a makeover with new curbing and landscaping. Bottom Dollar opened in March and Deputy Mayor Anthony Minniti, who serves as the director of economic development, thinks the opening of the grocery store could attract tenants to the 30,000-square-foot building. "Ideally, it would become a Kohl's or a Home …

Everyone has an idea of what they would like to see, but will there be enough community support for the business to survive? It's all about demographics in retail, and if the numbers are not there, the big name stores won't be there either. Walmart does not force small businesses to close, the community deciding to save a few dollars at Walmart, instead of shopping at the small business, result …   more ›

Same Place, New Name

Owner Bob LePage drops the Gold's Gym name to become Cinnaminson Health and Wellness.

With a name change already in the works, the (former) Gold’s Gym is getting close to the full-service business it has strove to be for weeks now. Owner Bob LePage said the paperwork has been done and new signage and shirts will be unveiled soon with the gym’s new name: Cinnaminson Health and Wellness. But the name change has nothing to do with bad business, LePage said; the Gold’s Gym name just wasn’t helping the franchise. “It’s a valued business decision based off the fact that money could be used better in better places,” LePage said this week. LePage, who up until recently sat on the national advisory board for Gold’s, said he was paying for the name, with none of the benefits. Nothing will change, except the name, LePage said. And he’…

Now that the gym has closed, after just purchasing my membership and paying $140 in start up costs - it has closed 3 weeks later. Mr Lepage how are you reimbursing these memberships? I should have seen this as fraud in the making since the equipment was junk and your staff was awful. I'll be filing legal paper if this is not resolved shortly!   more ›

Owner: Gold's Gym Will Be Fully Operational By February

Owner Bob LePage also donates thousands of dollars of gym equipment to fire, police and high school.

Gold’s Gym has been open in its permanent location for a week now, and owner Bob LePage said he hopes to be fully operational by the end of January. “We’re finishing our audio/visual package,” LePage said Friday. “We’re working on our group exercise floors.” Despite the several setbacks the gym has had, LePage said things have been moving along recently. “We’ve been getting good feedback and starting to sell some memberships,” he said. The gym moved from Delran in 2009 and opened a temporary location in Mainline Shopping Center in December of that year. Last December, the gym moved its location to the old Branch Brook site in the same shopping center. LePage is completely renovating the spot. Also, in order to appeal to the community more…

Still doesn't discount the fact that the gym closed without notice... The credit processing doesn't even know they are closed! To cancel your membership you can call 888-827-9262. I spoke with someone there and they said there should be a plan in place on their end by this Friday 4/22.   more ›

Owner: Gold's Gym Will Re-Open Saturday

The site has been granted a temporary certificate of occupancy, said owner Bob LePage, who plans a 7 a.m. opening.

After nearly a month of being closed, Gold’s Gym in Cinnaminson will reopen Saturday at 7 a.m., said owner Bob LePage. Several unexpected setbacks, the holiday week and the weather contributed to the late opening, LePage said, but members can use the exercise equipment Saturday. “We still have stuff we have to continue to do,” LePage said. The gym won’t be near completion when members go back tomorrow, but a temporary 30-day certificate of occupancy has been granted to the site to open. The televisions aren’t set up yet, so the audio/visual aspect of the gym’s new location isn’t up to speed. The shower facility also needs adjustments, LePage said, but could be available by later in the day Saturday. Also, the kid’s club won’t be open for …

Gold's Gym to Pump New Life Into Aging Retail Space on Rt. 130

New digs at Main Line Shopping Center expected to attract a membership of 6,000.

Like the piece of a puzzle, Gold's Gym is filling an important retail gap at Cinnaminson's Main Line Shopping Center. The vibrant, new 30,000-square-foot gym—expected to open within days—will give residents another reason to visit the 50-year-old retail district on Route 130. "We want people to shop along the Route 130 corridor. Getting the right mix of stores is an important way to accomplish that," said Cinnaminson Mayor Anthony Minniti, who welcomes Gold's to town. Gold's Gym will have a "night-club feel" with black floors and ceilings, and plenty of room for classes, according to owner Bob LePage. In addition, the building itself is receiving an overhaul with energy-saving roofing, as well as environmentally friendly plumbing and …

Unkept promises and deceitfulness all along. I give this facility 10 months until they close down. I have also googled the owner and was shocked to find a rating of F on BBB. What comes around goes around.   more ›
