Former Cinnaminson Police Lt. William Peters Dies
Services for William J. Peters, the only Cinnaminson officer ever shot in the line of duty, will be tonight.
Former Cinnaminson Police Lt. William J. Peters passed away peacefully on November 29, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family. According to Cinnaminson officials, Peters is the only officer in Cinnaminson Police history who was shot in the line of duty. Peters ultimately retired in 1972 due to his injuries he sustained from the shooting. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Peters was 72 years old. His family: Beloved wife and best friend of 53 years, Helene (Czaja); Loving father of Michele (Shelly) Peters, Mark (Michelle) Peters and Nicole (Andrew) Necowitz.
